About:
Part of a series of layered papercuts exploring the movement and reinterpretation of architectural forms. Noughts and Crosses draws on the influence of the Grand Tour, when exposure to European design inspired new decorative ideas in English houses and estates.

The work takes particular inspiration from the repeating geometry of decorative plasterwork and wood-panelled ceilings. Through layered paper, these architectural forms are reinterpreted through depth, shadow and light, exploring how familiar motifs change as they move between materials, places and periods.
