About:
Part of the Moroccan series, Moroccan IV Noir is a layered paper and cardboard papercut exploring depth, geometry and shadow. Drawing on the intricate geometric forms found in Islamic architecture, the work continues my exploration of how architectural motifs can be reinterpreted through different materials.
Corrugated cardboard spacers create rich shadows between the layers, while delicate surface details contrast with the greater depth of the structure beneath. Rendered entirely in black, the changing light and shadow become an integral part of the work, revealing and obscuring the pattern as it shifts throughout the day.
