Part of a series of layered papercuts exploring the movement of architectural forms and ideas between cultures. Vaultconsiders the influence of Byzantine and Islamic architecture on European design, particularly the point at which geometric forms became combined with the naturalistic traditions of stonemasonry in vaulted ceilings.

Through layered paper, architectural forms normally expressed in stone are reinterpreted through depth, shadow and light, exploring how visual ideas are transformed as they travel between places and cultures.
